CVs & Cover Letters Guide

Make it easy for an employer to understand your relevant experience and skills.

Gather accurate career information

Prepare your contact details, employment history, education, relevant training and examples of work. Verify dates and qualification names. Use achievements you can explain and support; do not invent experience or credentials.

Give the document a clear purpose

For a CV, prioritise information relevant to the role. For a cover letter, identify the position and explain the connection between your experience and the employer’s needs. Avoid simply repeating every line of the CV.

Review before applying

Check the employer’s requested file format, naming instructions and any length limit. Confirm that your phone number and email are correct. Read the final version for inconsistent dates, sample wording and unrelated details.

Protect personal information

Include only information needed for the application. Obtain permission before sharing a referee’s private contact details. Do not send identity documents or financial credentials merely because a generic template leaves space for them.

A template is not an outcome guarantee

A clear application helps present your information, but it cannot guarantee an interview or job. Review every application for the actual role and instructions.

This is a preparation guide. Examples here do not guarantee that a corresponding template is available. Check the document maker for the actual choices, prices and file formats.
